Hoskins' company went North to-day. Lingard and wife follow. The Licensing Bench have intimated that hotelkeepers encouragiug billiard tournaments are likely to lose their licenses. 7th September. The three political meetings held last night carried resolutions similar in purport to previous ones. Little Nell made a speech attacking die critic of the Guardian last night, terming him a " cur and a coward," for characterising her performance as vulgar. The " cur and coward" gives a warm reply this morning, and latest reports now say that he is to be horsewhipped.
