Wellington. 24th August, 1876. Mr. John Fenton, Gisborne,—

Sir, — I received your note, dated 10th instant, asking me* to take upon sale 36 copies of the burlesque poem, " Jewlius Rex." Having read a portion of the work, I must decline to accede to your request to have on sale in my shop that which appears to me to be a libel upon poetry and common sense. Please inform me whether you wish the copies hnnded over to some other bookseller or returned to you, and oblige, Yours &c, Geo. W. Dutton.
