GUN ACCIDENT AT THE HUTT.

An unfortunate accident happened yesterday to the eldest son of Mr. Henry Ashton, Rate-collector to the Highway Board. Young Ashton was out with a companion, shooting in the bush at Moonlight Gully, near Mr. " Cruickshauk's property. The two boys placed their guns on a log while they made a flre. Ashton was in a stooping position lighting his pipe, while his companion was bringing an armful ot wood. As the latter passed the log on which the guns were lying;, his foot accidentally struck the hammer ot one gun, which instantly exploded, lodging the contents of the barrel in Ash ton's right arm, near the elbow, carrying away a portion of the bone. Assistance was obtained, and lie was carefully removed to a house, and attended by Dr. Wilford, who is in hopes of being able to save the limb from amputation, although he fears the arm will be always more or less disabled.
