Davies, the present Mayor, announces himself a candidate for re-election. A requisition to Sir George Grey will probably be presented to-morrow. The latest rumor is that he will accept, and take Speight, G.W. of the Good Templars, under his wing. Sir. G. Grey received a numerous deputation to-day. He has consented to address the inhabitants of the Thames on Saturday nignt. - The body of a man found at Tairua is believed to be that of Markham^ a packer, missed some two months ago.
