THE CITY VALUATION.
TO THE EDITOR OP THE EVENING POST. Sir — As the City Council meets this evening for the purpose of hearing appeals, I would suggest that the Mayor inquire of Mr. Taylor, the principle he has adopted in making this year's assessment. It seems strange to me now there should be such a difference in the manner in which it has been done. In some cases additions of over 50 per cent, have been made, whilst in others there have been none whatever. It would take up too much of your valuable space to cite cases where improvements have been made, and nothing ! pnt on extra in assessment, and where no improvements have been made, and the amount considerably increased. There is, however, one case I cannot help noticing, and that is Mr. Taylor's own. He has — with a degree of fairness, for which I give him credit — carefully refrained from adding to his own rates, although I can assure him that he has improved his property quite as much as I have mme — my improvements being nil. He will receive the benefit of the 15 per cent reduction, and so will I ; but how, thus : — Added by ! the assessor 60 per cent, less 15 per cent, j leaving an increase of 45 per cent. A pound or two a year may not be felt by a merchant, but I can assure him that it is greatly by A Working Man. 2nd December.

A Flesh Creating Medicine.— When a due proportion of the food is converted into pure, rich blood, the natural nutrient of the body, there is nothing to prevent the acquisition of flesh, provided there be no undue waste of tissue from overwork, or any depleting ailments. We would recommend those who desire to see the angles of their frames " rounded oft" to use Udolpho Wolfe's Schiedam Aromatic Schnapps, which promotes assimilation of the food, and repairs all losses of substance.-fADVT.
