' Arrived —Hawea, s.s.; Wellington, s.s., from the South. The immigrants by the Dover Castle have been landed on the Quarantine Island.They are progressing favorably, and there are no fresh cases of sickness. Mr. Alexander Saunders report: Sales — Caledonian, 88s; Cure, 13s 6d; Beach, 50s. Buyers —National Bank, 71s; Colonial, 275; South British, 47s ; Beach, 50s ; Tokatea, 15s. Sellers —Caledonian, 955; Fiji, 52s 6d; Tairua, 52s 6d. 30th August. A Government messenger attempted suicide by cutting his throat. He had been drinking very heavily lately. He is not dangerously injured; and was removed to the hospital.
