FTIHE TELEGRAPH COMMISSIONER L is prepared to RECEI YE TENDERS for the SUPPLY and DELIVERY of FIVE HUNDRED (500) TELEGRAPH POLES, more or less, for «i line of Telegraph between tho Town of Foxton and the Town of Palmerston North. The po'es to be sawn from the heart of to taw. The poles to be of the following dimensions :— Twenty five (25) and twenty (20) feet long in proportions hereinafter to be determined, but the greater 1 proportion will be twenty (20) feet long, to be eight (fa) inches square at the butt, and six (6) inches square at the top. The poles to be sound, straight, and free . from shakes, knots, and sap. N.B. — No pole wilt be accepted which contains the least sup or speckled timber, and thould any pole < bo brought on to the ground not in accordance with the specification, the same will bo cut in half prior to being rejected. The poles will have to be delivered at points not less than four (4) chains apart along a line of telegraph to be hereafter more particularly indicated by pegs, which , will follow, as a rule, along . the' present tramway from Foxton to Palmersten>pbrih_ „ The delivery of the poles to commence on ; the Ist September, 1874, and the whole ;to be delivered wUhin three (3) months of the dateof signing the contract, under a penalty of five pounds (£5) per diem for every day beyond the time specified, which penalty ' . ¦ will be recoverable from the- contractor ,¦' from any sums that may be; or beconje, ¦ due to him under his contract. ¦ Progress payments will be made at the fate of eighty - (80) per cent, as the works advance, the balance ou completion of contract.
