19th May. Lodged 4.3 p.m. Delivered 5.20 p.m. The Council assembled at 2 o'clock to-day. Dr Webster had been entrusted by the Superintendent to form a Ministry, but Rvid's party intimated that unless one of their number was requested by the Superintendent, none would join. Mr Toltnie stated that as he had been unable to form a coalition Government commanding alike the confidence of the Council and the Superintendent, he has advised his Honor to prorogue the Council. There was a scene in the Couricil, which was interrupted by a Gazette notice of prorogation. , 20th May. j ' Lodged 10.40 a.m. ! Finished 12.37 p.m. , A memorial is being signed by the members of the Provincial Council praying his Excellency not to grant a dissolution. The memorial will be sent by the mail to-day. If a dis«o lutioti be granted, -Mr Macamlrewwill be opposed for the Superin tendency.
Mr Vincent Pyke, Warden at Lawrence, is about to publish a -story of Colonial Life and Adventures, which is said to be well written.
