It is scarcely necessary to state that the practice of selling wool by public auction has been followed with great success in the neighboring colonies of New South Wales, and Victoria, and in the adjoining Provinces of Dunedin, Canterbury, and Aucklaud, and frequently results in the growers obtaining far higher prices than if they had sold by private contract, or shipped on their own account.
