DISTRICT PRIZE FIRING.

The firing for district prizes was «mtmne«l at the Adelaide Ittitts yesterday by the A r olnntecr Artillery. The scores, which wore very low, were as follows :—: —

A correspondent of an Auckland paper s*iys that he has learned in the course of conversation with the natives of the Upper Waikato that there are many Enropeans who make a profitable trade out of selling arms and ammunition to the natives — powder at 10s per pound, caps .is a box, £20 for a double barrel guv, and £G for a ritle.
