SPECIAL MEETING OF

COMMITTEE

A special meeting of the general committee of the Ellesmere A. and P. Association was held at Leeston on Friday afternoon, at which the | following were present: Messrs F. L. Graham (president), P. F. Chamberlain, R. J. Parkin, John Brooks, J. Legg, A. C. - Greenwood, «J. T. i Parkin, H. O. Gardiner, D. Hurford, A. E. Brown, R. J. Gilbert, D. M. Mackay, W. McLachlan, H. J. Hurford, A. A. C. McPherson, H. R. McLaughlin, D. B. Clarkson, W. J. Doyle, A. J. L. Doak, E. H. Galpin, J. D. Cameron, J. S. Roberts, and I. Mawson.. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs W. O. Rennie, W. Johnston, R. G. Bishop, D. M. Lill, J. C. Chamberlain, H. Neave, R. T. McMillan, W. S. McLaughlin, R. 'McClure, and C. J. Hastings.

On the proposal of the vice-presi-dent (Mr Chamberlain) a motion of sympathy with the president in his bereavement was carried.

The president explained the reason for calling the meeting. He said that several members had asked for the committee to consider the matter of sanitation at the show grounds, especially that of the women's lavatories.

Mr W. McLachlan said that more prevision should be made for women exhibitors on the north side of the grounds. This proposal received support from several speakers. It was also suggested that this should be referred to a small sub-commit-tee .with power to act, also as an alternative to the grounds committee. Finally on an amendment proposed by Mr A. C. Greenwood and seconded by Mrs J. T. Parkin, a sub-committee of seven members was set up to deal with the matter and to confer with the district sanitary inspector. Those appointed to the committee were Messrs Greenwood, Clarkson,. Mackay, Doyle McPherson, J. Brooks, Gardiner' and the president and vice-president. The president thanked those members who attended * the recent working bee for the work which they had done on that occasion.
