man Committee in. Moscow were the German imperial black,* red and white. "This seems inconsistent, but it is certainly realistic," he says. "Neither the German Communists nor the Social-Democrats have any influence in Germany. They went down unresisting before Hitler in 1933 and have been unable to rally since. As a potential opposition to the Nazis they must be written off. "A revolution carried out by the German Left, with Russian support, could not last, but a revolution Carried out by the Right—that is to say, by the Nazis (though perhaps without Hitler and his immediate collaborators) and by Prussian officers, would not. only be more genuine, but couiQi Jast and preserve a Russian-controlled German economic order, or. as much of it as the Russians wished to control for their own use.
"The Czechs, or at least those of their ruling class or that part of it represented by the President, Dr Benes, are Pan-Slav and pro-Rus-sian still. They, therefore, are the favourites of Russia today. Their function, as it is conceived by Russia, is to be the instrument of Russian domination of Central Europe. "Russia sees the prospect of securing abroad all that she has coveted throughout her history. Her foreign policy has undergone many changes, but it has certain constants that always bring it back to where; it w.as—arid always with cumulative) effect." I
Mean smokers ? Yes, we've all met fchein, though (fortunately) they're in the minority. There's the chap that begs a nil, takes a generous one, .and.then (absent-mindedly) slips your pouch into his pocket. There's the joker who finds he has left his purse on the piano or some^ thing and borrows a bob to buy baccy with. You can kiss that bob good-bye. You'll never see it again. The cadger will smoke: any sort, but prefers National Tobacco Co.'s goods. Shows his good taste. This tobacco is. the purest and freest of nicotine of any. Unequalled for flavour and bouquet, too. This is largely because it is toasted, in which respect it differs from all other tobaccos. It is in fact unique. There are various brands. Those' most asked for are: Riverhead Gold, Desert Gold and Pocket Edition (mild and delicious aromatics); Cavendish (sporting mixture); Navy Cut No. 3 (a delightful blend of choice leaf); and Cut Plug No. IO (a fine, rich, dark, full-flavoured sort the old smoker will especially appreciate). Remember all are toasted, therefore safe; no bita, no after-effects.*
