HERD-TESTING COURSE
WOMEN STUDENTS TO BE
CATERED FOR
PROVISION AT CANTERBURY AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE
A course for women students proposing to follow the occupation of herd-testing is to be arranged at Canterbury Agricultural College, Lincoln. It was reported by the director, Professor E. R. Hudson, at today's meeting of the Board of Governors, that the College had been asked by the Dairy Board to provide a course for women training to be herdtesters. The organisations responsible for herd-testing were finding it difficult to obtain the properlytrained staff and women were now being employed. A course was available at Massey College, Palmerston North, and it was suggested that Lincoln should adopt one on similar lines and fees. Professor Hudson suggested that it might be held between the first and second terms and would last from two to two and a half weeks. It would be a specialised course. May 2 was suggested as the commencing date and the class would number from 20 to 25 women.
The board approved of the director's proposal.
