Springston South

A social was held in the Springston South Hall to honour Privates T. Bray and D. Reid, and Gunner J. Findlay. There was a large attendance. Items given were: Songs, Mrs T. Foster and Misses C. Fisher and Parlane; banjo solos, Mr Ching; dancing, Miss Fay Downing: Dancing was enjoyed to music supplied by Stewart's Band, and Mr C. Wood was M.C. Mr P. V. Bailey made a presentation on behalf of the Patriotic Committee to each soldier, of a gentleman's companion and conveyed the best wishes of all present. Mr J. S. Simpson and the Rev. C. L. Sparrow also spoke. Mrs G. H. Hoskin, on behalf of the Springston Women's Institute, presented each soldier with a box of home comforts. The guests suitably replied.
