Horticultural Society

The main business dealt with at a meeting of the committee of the Southbridge Horticultural Society, held on Tuesday evening, was the appointment of judges for the annual show to be held on Thursday, March 13.

Those present at the meeting were Mr W. C. Eggelton (president), Mesdames J. Williamson, G. Goulden, G. M. Doyle, T. Greenall, W. V. Rowan and J. Ballagh, Miss I. Lewton and Messrs L. G. Eade (hon. secretary), R. j. Parkin, H. J. Greenwood, K. Wylie and J. H. McMillan. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames A. J. Inwood, H. J. Greenwood and W. C. Eggelton and Miss Doris Lilley. Sympathy was expressed with the secretary in the death of his father and with the family of the late Mrs D. Tong.

The secretary asked that all members and supporters of the society who wished to contribute special prizes should notify him before the end of this month, as the special prize allocation committee would meet early in March. Those elected to the allocation committee were the president, Mesdames Williamson and Ballagh, Messrs F. H. Greenwood and R. B. Willis and the secretary. It was decided to ask Mrs A. N.

Grigg to officially open the show. Mrs Love is to be asked to take charge of the tea room, other ladies agreeing to assist. Mr J. Strutton is to be asked to erect the

show benches and to act as doorkeeper. Last year's space allocation committee was re-elected.
