Dr. W. F. Gericke, the University University of California, pioneer in growing- plants without soil, told the Pacific Science Congress how he had produced prodigious yields with chemicals necessary to plant life. In one basin in which corn and potatoes were raised simultaneously, Dr. Gericke said the proportionate yield j per acre would be 1,500 bushels of potatoes and 285 bushels of corn. He said the cost of chemical to produce 1,500 pounds of potatoes was 1.45 dollars.
