"It is more satisfactory, in that a more or less definite date has been fixed," remarked Cr W. O. Rennie at yesterday's meeting of the Ellesmere County Council, when a letter was read from the Minister for Public Works regarding a survey by his department of the Leeston and Irwell ridings for a scheme for improved drainage. The letter was to the effect that it would be another six months before tfie worK coulct be commenced, owing to the pressure of work on the survey staff of the department.
