FANCY DRESS DANCE
There was a good attendance at the children's and adults' fancy dress dance in aid of the local school funds, arrangements for which were maSe by the members of the school committee, assisted by the teachers and parents. The costumes were judged by Mrs G. Mcßean and Mrs A. Mcßean, who found the task of awarding the prizes most difficult as so many deserved mention. Music for dancing was played by Mrs P. J. Riordan and Miss M. Riordan. All the children received a toy. Prizes-for the mother with most children in fancy dress were awarded to Mrs E. Garland and Mrs L. Everest. Children's Monte Carlos were won by Keith Garland and Nita Garland and Jack Smith and Neil Smith. The winners of the adults' Monte Carlo were Mr and Mrs J. Blakemore. Competitions were won by Roberta Millar and Maurice Woods.

The members of the Methodist Ladies' Guild held a social afternoon in the Methodist schoolroom. Mrs Cottom presided.
Competitions were won by Mesdames J. W. Marshall and T. Memory. Solos were sung by Mrs J. W. Marshall, a reading was given by Mrs •W. McVicker, and a duet by Misses P. J. Porter and M. Mounce.
