CITIZENS OF BRITAIN
YOUNG ROMANOFFS REALISE
AMBITION
(From The Guardian's London
Correspondent)
LONDON, September 10.
Three grandchildren of the Grand Duchess Xenia of Russia, sister of the late Czar, have become British subjects. It was announced in the London Gazette this week that papers of naturalisation had been granted to these young Romanoffs, members of one of history's most tragic families: Prince Michael, aged 18,
and Princess Xenia, aged 19, children of Prince Andrew; and Prince Alexander, eight-years-old son of Prince Nikita. They all live with the* parents at Wilderness House, Hampton Court Palace, the home of the
Grand Duchess, placed at the disposal of her family by King Edward VIII.
At Wilderness House it was stated that the family were on holiday in France, but the grandchildren would be returning in time for the re-open-ing of the Imperial College where Prince Michael is a student. One who knows the Romanoffs well declared: "Ever since they settled in this peaceful home they have longed for British nationality. They have lived in England so long now that they wish for nothing else than to become a recognised part of the
country."
