LEESTON NIGHT CIRCLE

Miss C. Cooke presided at the monthly meeting of the Leeston Night Circle. An apology was received from the president, Miss ..P.^, Bray, who was unable to attend.

A motion of sympathy was-passed to Miss Elsie Hurford in her recent bereavement.

An invitation was received from the Lakeside Women's Institute to attend its birthday party next month.

A special vote of thanks was accorded Misses J. Bowis, J. McLachlan, and J. Brizzle, who had been re* sponsible for attending to the Night Circle display at the Southbridge flower show held recently. It was decided to hold a dance on -< November 17 at Doyleston for the purpose of raising money for the crippled children's fund at Christchurch. A dance committee was formed and the hope was expressed^ that such a worthy cause would gain generous support.

Miss S. Bowis gave an excellent demonstration on seagrass work, ithe r^ articles including baskets and trays. >-> A hearty vote of thank was accorded her.

The hostesses were Misses P. and J, Mercer and P. Mclntyre.
