NEW CLASSROOMS
AT LEESTON SCHOOL.
PREPARATIONS IN TRAIN FOR CONSOLIDATION.
A plan of the new classrooms to be built at Leeston School, to provide accommodation for the children of Irwell and Doyleston Schools under the consolidation scheme to operate from the beginning of next year, has been submitted to the chairman of the Leeston Committee. The new rooms will be linked together in one building- running to a length of 80 feet, which will be built to the west of the present classrooms, on an angle facing the north, and in accordance with the latest ideas on open-air schoolrooms. Concrete steps will run the full length of the frontage, each classroom will accommodate 40 pupils and will be provided with a cloakroom, handbasin and other conveniences, and there will be central heating throughout.
If the new building is not completed in time for the re-opening of school after the holidays, temporary accommodation will be provided, probably in the form of tents. It is understood that satisfactory arrangements are being made for the transport of the children.
