VARIETY ENTERTAINMENT
SONG, DANCE AND HUMOUR,
SOUTHBRIDGE, NOVEMBER 19
! From advance items from the programme in preparation for the grand non-stop variety entertainment to be given at Southbridge Town Hall on Friday, November 19, there is no doubt that patrons will be sure of an evening's splendid entertainment. It will be the thirty-second concert of the Shirley Expression Club and this busy organisation of talented and experienced performers is providing one of its best programmes for the pleasure of the Southbridge audience. Here are seven of the special items which form only a portion of the long list of enjoyable turns selected for the occasion:—Thomas brothers will be heard in the humorous dialogue, "At the Seaside"; Mr K. Theo Starkey and Miss J. Henderson will present a novel number, "Ballroom Dancing: To-day and Yesterday"; tap class will be seen in their most successful number, "Schooldays"; there will be a popular novel feature, "Happy Moments with the Children," in which four children from the audience will be asked to display their talent; the talented boy vocalist, Rex Thomas, will give a humorous character song, "I Love to be a Sailor"; the Hale sisters wil be heard in their favourite duet, in costume, "The Picaninnies"; Gloria Lyons will sing popular songs in which the audience will be asked to join. There will be many other variety items so arranged as to please both young and old, so it will be seen that the fare will be merry, bright and breezy. The effort is in aid of the school funds, and Southbridge and Ellesmere residents generally will not only be assisting in a worthy cause, at the same time showing appreciation to the city performers for their help, but will be excellently entertained as well, by attending this entertainment.
