PLUNKET SOCIETY

ELLESMERE BRANCH.

On account of the school holidays there was a smaller attendance than usual at the monthly meeting of the Ellesmere branch of the Plunket Society held in Wesley Hall, Leeston, yesterday. Those present were: Mesdames J. Coe ,{ president), W. McLachlan, V. G. Mason, W. S. McLaughlin, W. B. Cunningham, H. G. Chamberlain, A. J. W. Young, H. Schnelle and J. A. Creagh. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames W. H. Cartwright, E. McIntyre, D. M. Lill, W. O. Rennie, C. Tod, W. G. Volckman, C. G. Fisher, J. R. Godsell, P. H. Mcllraith and M. H. Boyd.

It was decided that the full amount of the collection at the mothers' birthday afternoon, £4 4s, should be sent to Karitane.

Mr Clausen, it was reported, had kindly promised the use of his shop for the Plunket Day appeal on Friday, September 24, and arrangements for the appeal were completed.

On account of having left the district, Mrs T. C. McLachlan tendered her resignation as a member of the branch. It was accepted with regret and appreciative references were made to the active interest Mrs McLachlan had taken in the affairs of the society for a number of years.
