When on a recent visit to Leeston Mr H. E. Herring, M.P., secured samples of a locally baked loaf of bread, made solely from flour milled in the district. He was impressed with its good quality and took his samples to Wellington, where he distributed portions to the Minister ct Industries and Commerce and to ather highly placed officials, and also to friends in Ashburton, as examples of what could be done with flour milled from New Zealand wheat. Mr Herring has now received reports from those who sampled the bread, md in every case they were excellent, though in some instances the bread was five days old before it was sampled. These highly favourable reports have confirmed Mr Herring in his strongly-held opinion as to the high baking quality of New Zealand-made flour. ■ ■
