WOMEN'S FASHIONS
REVIVING VICTORIANISMS.
TRIBUTE TO KING'S VIEWS
The King's views on women's fashions are deciding many autumn trends. His Majesty likes full skirts, rounded necklines and high-waisted effects of the nineteenth century. As a tribute to the King, fashion dictators intend to revive Victorian trends. The off-shoulder line of a century ago will reappear at autumn functions, as will full-draped skirt and sleeve treatments.
French designers are reviving styles of the past. Evening frocks with trains a yard long were seen at the first autumn show in Paris. Day skirts are long. Red and green are the outstanding day colours.
The fashions are a mixture of Napoleonic and Edwardian with touches of Scottish. There are some beautiful plaid velvets, and many day skirts are kilted.
