LEESTON STOCK SALE

TO-DAY'S QUOTATIONS

There was a large entry of store ewes and a small one of pigs at today's sale at Leeston and there was a small attendance of farmers.

Sheep: The sale was inclined to be easier. Quotations: One-year ewes 16s 6d to 17s 6d, rape ewes 4s to 9s. There, was a fair entry of rams: Southdowns sold from lgn. to 3|gns.

Pigs: Porkers sold from 29s 6d to 35s 6d, weaners from 9s to 12s, slips from 12s to 14s, small stores 15s to 19s, large stores 22s to 28s.

Another agent reports that fat pigs, of which there were three pens, sold well. Baconers brought up to 535, porkers to 355, best stores 23s to 28s, medium 16s to 21s, slips 13s to 15s, weaners 9s to 12s 6d. The market firmed as the sale proceeded. Store ewes made round about late rates. Southdown rams made from lgn. to 3Jgns., aged rams 5s to 15s, and English Leicesters 2gns.

The following were other quotations for sheep: 20 ewes at 11s, 28 at 17s 4d, 42 at 16s Id, 22 at 15s.

The holidays next month will interfere with sale fixtures and there will be only one sale day at Leeston, April 24.
