SOUTHBRIDGE TALKIES
TO-MORROW'S PROGRAMME
Hitch-hiking to Heaven on the royal road to Romance! A poor little rich girl, with a million dollars —but she had to beg for love! Sparkling comedy! Exciting surprises! Thrilling romance!
That's the story of "It Happened One Night," the Clark Gable-Claud-ette Colbert co-starring comedydrama, to be screened at Southbridge to-morrow evening. Claudette runs away from her father's palatial Miami home to go to New York. She meets the gallant Clark on a night motor coach, and ere long is safely ensconced under his protective wing. A rainstorm halts the 'bus; they spend the days hitch-hiking, the nights in auto camps. After a series of thrilling and romantic adventures the 'bus again goes swaying on its journey; the passengers are of varying interest. They sing "The Flying Trapeze," and Gable, completely forgetting Claudette, comes in on the chorus with a natural touch which puts the whole theatre into the 'bus. The supporting programme includes a sports thrill, screen snapshots, and a Krazy Kat cartoon.
