The London market for New Zealand butter is firm and active at advanced prices, after being unusually steady for several weeks. According to a review of the market issued by A. S. Paterson and Company, Ltd., unseasonable weather, which has retarded European production, and American buying of Latvian and Dutch butters, are accentuating the usual seasonal appreciation of prices for Danish full grass butter. Another factor has been the marked decline in Australian late season production as a result of unfavourable weather. A considerable quantity of butter has recently been sold for May, June and July shipment. Prices have reached lOd per lb. and a fraction higher for July shipment. This is equal to a London price of 86/----to 87/- per cwt. The cheese market is slow on account of large stocks. Prices are a shade weaker at 43/- per cwt, for white and 44/- for coloured.
