PRESENTATIONS TO MR S. M. JACKMAN.

ELLESMERE GUN CLUB

During the afternoon tea adjournment at the Ellesmere Gun Club's fixture on Saturday afternoon, the opportunity was taken to farewell Mr S. M. Jackman, who is leaving Leeston to reside at Methven, to which place he is being transferred on promotion as representative of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand, Ltd.

In asking Mr Jackman to accept a handsome brass fire screen and fuel box as tokens of regard from the members of the Gun Club, the president, Mr F. L. Graham, said it was very appropriate that the members of the Methven Gun Club should have chosen that day as the occasion for their friendly visit, in view of/the fact that Mr Jackman \%as to make his home in Methven. He would find amongst the members of the Methven Club many good friends. Mr Jackman had been a keen member of the Ellesmere Club almost from its inception, and for a number of years had been a successful competitor at shooting matches held by the club, of which he had also been a strong supporter. By all sections of the community, he was held in high regard, and there was general regret in the district at his impending departure. It was recognised, however, that the promotion he had gained was well merited, and the members of the Gun Club desired to join with many other friends in all parts of the Ellesmere district in wishing Mr and Mrs Jackman happiness and prosperity in the district where they were to make their future home.

Mr Jackman warmly thanked the president for his kind words and good wishes, and the members generally for the good feeling that had prompted the presentation. The gifts would be treasured very highly both by Mrs Jackman and himself, and they would always retain pleasant memories of the many friends they were leaving in the Ellesmere district.
