A veteran lover ot the weed had something interesting to say at a recent North Auckland smoke concert. "My lodge doctor," he remarked,, "told me, twenty odd years ago, toi give up smoking. Said my general health would be enormously benefited. It wasn't. It got steadily worse. I got horribly irritable, nervous and depressed. So, satisfied I was doing myself far more harm than good, I began to smoke again—but not the stuff I formerly smoked. I chose New Zealand toasted Navy Cut No. 3, (a delightful bend of choice leaf) and found it yielded me infinitely greater enjoyment than my former brands did. I soon got alright. Richard was himself again! I reckon 'toasted' is the finest tobacco manufactured— and quite harmless." Navy Cut No. 3, it may be mentioned, is one of the four popular toasted brands, the others being Riverhead Gold, Cavendish and Cut Plug No. 10. They owe their unique flavour, delicious aroma, and comparative freedom from nicotine (that deadly stuff I) to the toasting or roasting they get when manufactured. ♦
