NEWS AND NOTES
The annual meeting of the Lincoln Ladies' Basketball Club was held on Saturday afternoon in the pavilion, Mrs W. Hopley presiding over a good attendance. The balance sheet disclosed a credit of £7 Os 7d, which was considered very satisfactory. The annual report showed that the year had been very successful, as the team was runner-up in the competition and also won the buttons. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: President, Mrs W. Hopley; senior vice-president, Mrs T. Hewton; vice-presidents, Mesdames G. S. Peryman, A. Moreland, J. Dwyer (Methven), W. Munro, Miss Henry, Messrs A. Moreland, B. Moran, E. I Watkins and C. How ell; captain, Miss Annie Hopley; vice-captain, Mis 3 Noeline Ford; hon. secretary, Miss Ngaire Stoddart.
March 31st was chosen as the opening day. It was also decided that the annual
ball should be held on April 6th and that the Imperial Jazz band should be engaged. There is to be a set supper. Votes of thanks were passed to those who had assisted the Glub during the year and especially to Mrs T. Hewton, who had conveyed the team to matches.
On Saturday evening the first of a series of weekly dances promoted by the Hall Committee was held in the Hall and there was an excellent attendance. Dance music was supplied by the Imperial Jazz Band and Miss Irene Woods contributed extras. Competitions were won by Miss D. Haskett and Mr T. Medlin. while Monte Carlo dances were won by Miss Tui Pannell and Mr C. Bennett and Mr and Mrs R. Harvey. Mr B. Moran was M.C.
The Tennis Club is conducting a tournament for cups which have been donated and play will begin next Saturday.
