METHODIST CHURCH

CD3CUIT LADD3S' GUILD.

The usual monthly meeting of the Methodist circuit Ladies' Guild ..was held in Wesley Hall yesterday afternoon. Mrs F. B. Lawrence presided over a good attendance, representative of every part of the circuit.

A vote of sympathy was passed with Mrs H. Millar in her recent be reavement, and also in her illness. An appeal has been made for leftoff clothing for needy folk, and there was a splendid response, many useful garments being received. During the afternoon an interesting and instructive talk on chrysanthemum growing was given by Miss V. Bowis, who is a successful grower. She gave much valuable information for the assistance of would-be growers, and demonstrated the method of taking and potting cuttings. The speaker also suggested suitable variej ties to grow and gave hints concerning their culture. It is hoped later in the season to hold a demonstration on how to take the bud.

A humorous reading by Mrs L. Rapley and a solo by Mrs Couch added to the enjoyment of the afternoon.

A dainty afternon tea was served by the Southbridge members who, with Miss Bowis, were accorded a very hearty vote of thanks.
