VALEDICTORY

SOCIAL AT LEESTON.

In the Wesley Hall, Leeston, on Wednesday night, an impromptu social was tendered Mrs W. H. Jackman, Miss Edith Jackman and Miss Nell Jackman, who are leaving Leeston for Christchurch, where they will in future reside, on Saturday. Advantage was taken of the occasion to say farewell to the Rev. Reg. Day, who leaves Leeston for Whakatane shortly, in presenting Mrs and the Misses Edith and Nellie Jackman with mementoes of the occasion, the Rev. G. P. Hunt voiced the regret of all at their departure. .The goodwill of the people of Leeston went "with them and all hoped that they would be happy in the future. "We say to you all, we love you," Mr Hunt concluded. The Rev. R. Day/and Miss Louie Parkin endorsed Mr Hunt's remarks, and the large gathering lustily joined in the singing of " For They are Jolly Good Fellows," and gave three cheers for Mrs and the Misses Jackman.

In regard to Mr Day, the Rev. Hunt stated that the former had concluded his college course, and was now to set out to take his first place as a probationer. He had four years to go before he was fully ordained. He congratulated Mr Day on his success, and assured him that his singing, social services and ministry were acceptable throughout the circuit.

Mr L. Eade . qualified Mr Hunt's remarks, and wished Mr Day all prosperity and success in the future. Three ,cheers were given for Mr Day, who suitably replied, and the dispensing of a dainty supper concluded the function. ,
