BROADSIDING
AT MONICA PARK.
ANOTHER BIG PROGRAMME FOR SATURDAY.
Another good programme of broadsiding will be presented at Monica Pafk Speedway to-morrow night, there being a notable entry of visiting and Canterbury riders, and a long list of fine events.
The visitors will be Cyril Anderson, Tommy Tompkins, and Laurie Packer, all of Australia, and riders of outstanding ability. There is much interest' in the meeting of these riders in competition with Charlie Blacklock, the Canterbury champion. Blacklock is riding extremely well, and his meeting with Anderson in a special series of three match races is eagerly looked for. They met in only one event last week, when the honours went to the Canterbury man. It should be a thrilling duel of speed.
An interprovincial series of four teams' races between Otago and Canterbury should yield plenty of excitement and fine racing. In each of the four races four men will compete from a rolling start. Otago will be represented by Jim Nesbit (captain), Peter Lyders, Jack Young, and Allan Crighton, while Percy Lunn (captain), Norman Gray, Jack Oakley r and Jack Hobson will line out for Canterbury.
Elacklock will defend the Chevrolet gold helmet against the spirited challenge of Jack Hobson, and Hobson is in great form. >
In addition there will be handicap and scratch races,- the full contingent of Canterbury riders taking part. This big open-air entertainment will close down shortly. The gates will be open at 6.30.
