KILLED BY AFRICAN NATIVE.
Under hazardous conditions the body of an Englishwoman, Mrs Kirby, who was killed after a struggle with a native in the Rain Forest, Victoria Falls, in Africa, was recovered from the rocks among which it had been located. The funeral took place at Livingstone, at which the local Government was represented. ; i Mrs Kirby was attacked while sightseeing with a lady companion^ and the latter rushed away to fetch helpl When she returned Mrs Kirby had disappeared, but suspicious marks were found on the brink of the falls.
During a search that was instituted the alleged assailant was killed by falling from a bridge. For the purpose of recovering Mrs Kirby's body special gear was taken from Wankie Colliery and tested with loads of ballast. Three men were then lowered into the gorge where the body was located. They were drenched with spray, but managed to 7 secured the body, which was wedged T * j between huge rpcks. ,
