Mrs F. H. Mcllraith of "Brooklands," Southbridge, and her son, John, left this morning for Peel Forest, where they are to spend a fortnight's holiday with friends.

Mrs W. G. Hannah, of the Manse, Southbridge, who underwent an operation in St. George's Hospital, Christchurch, a few days ago, is recovering satisfactorily. Owing to the Rev. Hannah being in Christchurch, the services in the Southbridge Presbyterian Charge next Sunday will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Erwin, M.A.

A distinguished visitor to Leeston this afternoon is the Hon. Crawford Vaughan, a former Prime Minister of South Australia, Avho is visiting New Zealand in the interests of the No-Lic-ense movement. He is accompanied by Mr J. McKenzie, the area organiser. Mr Vaughan delivered an address in Wesley Hall to a number of people interested in the movement.
