DAFFODIL SHOW
r"- The third annual daffodil show -Sunder the auspices of the Presbyterian Church was held in the Druids' Hall on Tuesday afternoon and evening. The attendance was good, the exhibits in all classes were up to the high standard set in previous years, and competition was also very keen. The photography exhibits were especially good. The chief attraction was, as Usual, the magnificent display of daffo- . dils kindly sent in by the Hon. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, M.L.C., for exhibition only. Lincoln College also made a comprehensive display of flowering shrubs, and there were fine stands from
the gardens of Messrs H. P. Dulieu
and G. H. Ward and. Miss Sharp. The LT A refreshment tent was under the supervision of Mesdames Dulieu, Friecken. Henderson, Neale, Mitchell and McVinnie, and Misses Marshall, Boyd, Dunn, and the cake . and sweets stall was presided over by Misses Sharp, and Mrs Sydney Smith. Others in charge of stalls were Misses Ward Smith, O. Dearnley, the Busy Bees, Misses N. Keast, M. Button and R. Dulieu. Competitions were won by the following: Nail driving, Miss M. Ward-Smith and Mr J. Jordan; quoits, Mr R. Mitchell. The judges were: Pot plants, cut blooms, fruit, vegetables and flowers grown by" school children, Mr D. M. Bradbury; decorative, Mrs R. Macartney; home industries, Mr Harold Taylor; photography, Rev. A. H. Fowles; children's work, Mrs S. M. Maguinness.
