CHRISTCHURCH SPARROW MATCHES.

d. l. McGregor wins cup.

At the Christehureh Gun Club's sparrow matches last Saturday D. L. McGregor, of the Ellesmere Club, who was in fine form, won the match . for the Gimcraek "Cup, given by Mr E. F. Stead, president of the N.Z.G.C.A. The conditions were that each competitor shot at fifteen sparrows,* commencing from the eighteen yards mark, and went back a yard for each kill and f.brward a" yard for each miss. As usual, the match proved a very interesting competition. The result was in doubt until the last round, the winner who scored 14 kills out of a possible 15, killing his last bird from the -31 yards mark. Mr E. F. Stead presented the cup to the winner and- congratulated him upon his excellent performance. He also handed him a miniature cup presented by the Club. Three cheers »were given for the winner, who is a keen shot and very popular. In a £10 open match, 8.--Thian (Ellesmere) and F. Garland (Springston), each scored 9 duf of 10, and S. Vinee and F. G. Frampton (Ellesmere) each made 8 kills.
