LATEST SMITHFIELD QUOTATIONS.
The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board has received the following cablo from its London office, dated 3rd February, advising Smithfield delivered prices at that date as follows:—
N.Z. wethers and maidens, Canterbury quality, selected brands (old season), 561bs and under,-6sd; 57/641bs, 6d; 65/721bs, 5Jd. Other brands (new season), 561bs and under, 6£d; 57/64 i lbs, 6d; 65/721bs, 5Jd. N.Z. lambs, selected brands (new season), 361bs and under, 10|d; 37/42 ' lbs, 10§d. Other brands, first quality (new season), 361bs and under, ?fd; 37/421bs, lOd; second quality, 30/32 average, 9|d. Australian lambs, 'Victorian, first quality, 361bs and under, 9d. Argentine lambs, first quality, 361bs and under, 7£d; 37/421bs, 7£d. N.Z. beef: Ox fores, 3|d; ox hinds, sd; cow fores, 3£d; cow hinds, 4d. Argentine chilled beef: Ox fores 4£d, ox hinds 6fd. Argentine frozen beef: Ox fores 3Jd, ox hinds s§d. Frozen pork.—Porkers, 60/801bs, 7£d, 81/991bs 7d, 100/1201bs 6|d. Baconers, 121/1801bs, 6|d. Lambs.—Market steady; present light arrivals are sufficient to supply market. Mutton Market.—Wethers: Heavyweights slightly weaker. There is a good demand for lightweights. Beef Market.—-Owing to better prices for Argentine chilled beef, there has been a better demand for New Zealand beef. Frozen Pork.—Bo/1201bs, market still overloaded; 120/1801bs, demand is better owing to improvement in bacon prices.
