The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board has received the following cable from its London Office, dated 27th January, advising Smithfield delivered prices at that date as follows:—
N.Z. wethers and maidens, Canterbury quality, selected brands (old season), 561bs and under, 6*d; 57/641bs, 6d; 65/721bs, s|d. Other brands (new season), 561bs and under, 6fd; 57/641bs 6 l-8d; 65/721bs, s|d.
N.Z. lambs, selected brands (new season), 361bs and under, 10|d; 37/42 lbs, lOjJd. Other brands, first quality (new season), 361bs and under, lOd; 37/421bs, lOd. Second quality, 30/32 average, 9Jd.
Australian lambs, Victorian, first quality, 361bs and under, 9d; 37/421bs, 9d. ;■,
Argentine lambs, first quality, 361bs and under, 7|d; 37/421bs, 7£d.
N.Z. beef: Ox fores, 3§d; ox hinds, sd. Cow fores, 3£d; cow hinds, 4d. Argentine Chilled Beef: Ox fores, 3|d; ox hinds, 6*£ d. Argentine frozen beef: Ox fores, 3fd; ox hinds, s|d. Frozen Pork—Porkers, 60/801bs, 7£d, 81/991bs 7d, 100/1201bs 6fd. Baconers: 121/1801bs, 6id. Lamb market is still easier, owing to heavier landing. Mutton market—Steady. Stocks are not heavy. Frozen Pork.—Market quiet owing to heavy supplies.
