ELLESMERE ASSOCIATION'S TOURNAMENT.

SUCCESSFUL FIRST VENTURE

Weather to order, or nearly so, excellent courts to play upon, and good work on the part of the secretary, Mr F. A. Strack, who kept the games going briskly throughout the three clays, were the main factors which contributed to the success of the first tournament held by the Elfesmcre Tennis Sub-Associa-tion, which took place on the Leeston courts on Good Friday, Saturday and Easter Monday. All the games, except the final of the men's singles handicap, which took place this morning, were got oft" in the three days allotted. There were many interesting contests and some of the younger contestants showed promise of developing into good players/ All concerned worked well to. make the tournament the success it undoubtedly was, and a special word of praise is due to Mr Strack, who stuck to his post throughout the three days.
