A dance will lie held in the Church of England Parish Hall at Leeston tonight in aid of the sweets stall at the bazaar to be held on May 12.
The tender of Mr Marsh, of Spreydon, has been accepted for painting the caretaker's house, gates and rails at the Ellesmere Public Cemetery.
The Ellesmere. Rugby Sub-union will meet at Leeston to-morrow night to appoint referees for the competitions and consider amendments to the rules.
Mr D. W. Prosser, of Leeston, who underwent a serious- operation, in Christchurch a few days ago for the removal of hydatids from his lungs, was yesterday reported to be making satisfactory progress towards recovery.
Attention is called to the notice inserted in this issue for the Ellcsmer? Gun Club, calling a public meeting of sportsmen to be held at Leeston next Friday night, to discuss legislation relating to gun licenses. All intersted are invited to be present.
On Sunday harvest thanksgiving services were held in connexion with St John's Church, Leeston, the preacher being the vicar, the Rev Dr Holloway The church was tastefully decorated with offerings of corn, fruit and flowers sind hymns suitable to the occasion were eung. The services were well attended.
