FOUND DEAD

WELL KNOWN DOYLSSTOISr

FARMER

It was reported early on Sunday morning Hint Mr William Kelly, aged 8(3 years, a "well known and highly respected Doyleston farmer, had been missring from liis home since Saturday. It wits ascertained that Mr Kelly had last been seen by Mr Pcarco a local resident who was returning from Mr L. (J. Lemon's farm, lie was then' looking |over a gate ou Mr J. A. Scott's farm. Search parties scoured the countryside all day on Sunday but without success, and search was continued on Monday. About 3.30 in the afternoon Mr J. B. Anderson, a neighbouring farmer, who was assisting in the search, mounted a straw stack and in looking around the countryside saw an object in a pool of water some distance away in Mr Lewis's paddock. The object proved to be the body of the missing man. The pool of water was about 18 inches deep, but ■there were several inches of mud in the bottom. It is surmised that Mr Kelly, whoso memory had been failing for some considerable time past, was taking a short cut through the vpropesty to reach his own home and that lie fell into the pool of water and met. his death by accident.-Constable Moriarty, who assisted in tire search, had the "body removed to the late Mr Kelly's home. The deceased had been a resident of the- dis-

triet for many years and was very well! known. He leaves a grown up family. Yesterday afternoon an inquest was held at Doyleston by Mr W. O. Ronnie, J.P., Acting-Coroner, and a jury.
