THE PROPOSED SEDGE-MERE-LAKESIDE HALL.
.—-»♦»«- IT is, we think, up to the residents of Lakeside and Sedgerneire to attend the meeting, fianvWd by
to be held in the Sedgemere School on Monday evening, when ways and means of obtaining a public hall to serve the needs of . the two districts will be discussed. It will be remembered that some I two years or more ago the Lake-1 side people, who are really much ! worse off than their Sedgemere' friends for a suitable place ia which to hold their concerts and social gatherings owing to the school being divided into two very small rooms, made an effort' to provide a public hall, and had a central site been available their efforts may have been successful, for a good deal of support was promised. The agitation, howI ever, fell through, and nothing further has been done. Now the residents of Sedgemere are moving in the matter and it has occurred to them, or at least to a good many of them, that it would be an excellent thing to have the one hall to serve both districts. Sedgemere and Lakeside usually work well together and Sedge-' mere social functions are generally well attended by Lakeside folk and vice versa. It would, therefore, appear to be of mutual benefit to have one hall for the two districts. It is understood that a generous Sedgemere resident has offered to give half an acre of land as a site near the Church of England. It only needs a little enterprise on the part of ! the people to see a hall established, for, after all, the amount of money required is not large. The result of Monday's meeting will be awaited with interest.
