, Leeston Stock Sale. \ -The attendance at yesterday's : market was well up to the averI age, but the entries of stock, par- [ ticularly cattle were small. Ideal weather prevailed. The entries comprised just over 3qq sheep, 75 fat pigs, 76 store pigs and a few head of cattle. The demand for both fat and store sheep was very keen and prices were, if anything, rather better even than on the previous sale day. The operations of a new buyer created very keen competition for fat pigs and prices made a marked advance, equal to over id per lb., and in same cases to almost id. The store pigs also sold at satisfactory rates, while the demand for dairy cattle was keen though the supply was exceedingly limited. The sheep sales included 35 wether hoggets at 23s 2d, 13 ewe hoggets at 23s 4d, 39 hoggets at 23s 3d, 26 merino wethers 16s 3d, 177 merino ewes ios id. Best bacon pigs made 70s to 101s (the latter price being obtained for two sent in by Mr D. Hurford), the values for average Weights being from /d to 7%d per lb.
