Send-Off at Doyleston.
Last Thursday evening the
Fire Brigade paid a visit to Tioyleston for the purpose of saying, goodbye to Fireman T, E. Toner, who has been a member of the Brigade for several years and is leaving the district.
Superintendent Ramsey presided, and after the toast of the King had been honoured and several songs and* recitations had been given, presented Fireman Toner with a gentleman's leather wallet on behalf of the members of the brigade. In doing so tbe superintendent referred in eulogistic terms to the good qualities of the guest of the evening and to the help he had been to the brigade, having been a fireman for many years. The members regretted his departure very much and hoped he woukleDJoy happiness in his new home, j^ Fireman Toner suitably replied, stating that be was sorry to sever his connexion with the brigade, for he had spent many pleasant hours in the company of the members and had always been interested in fire brigade work.
More songs were sung and toasts were honoured and a pleasant evenfng concluded with Auld Lane
