After placing a cartridge in the chamber he went out, and in cocking the gun the hammer slipped from beneath his thumb, and the cartridge exploded, the charge passing through his ankle. After his injury had been dressed by Dr Withers he was taken to the Christchurch Hospital by motor car. As a yearling he gained fir3t and special ia his class, and first as the best yearling colt or filly at the Ellesmerr* Show, aod as a two-year-old second at Ashburton Horse parade, first end special and breeders' challenge Shield at Ellesmere, and first and special at Christchurcb, beating hu former opponent at Ashburton b\r two places and also the winners ■ f Dunedin, Timaru, Amberley and Rangiora. Mr Oughton is the largest breeder of Clydesdales ia Taranaki and he intends to u*e Flasbfoot as his stud horse.
