The "Cologne Gazette" publishes statistics of the distribution of Iron Crosses. __P to March 31 there had been granted five Grand Crosses, 8488 Iron Crosses of the First Class, 6nd 338,291 Iron Crosses of the Second Class. For the whole of the 1870 war there were only eight Grand Crosses, 1,304 lion Crosses of the First Class, and 45.791 Iron Crosses of the Second Class. The cost of manufactufe of crosses up to March 31 was about £140,000, and 120,210 yards of black ribbon and 525 yards of white ribbon have been used.
