School Treat.
A school treat was held m the Little Rakaia school ground oh Thursday afternoon on the occasion of the breaking-up for the harvest holidays. Considering the busy season/there was a good attendance of parents and friends. During the afternoon refreshments were served; out to those present by the Misses Sloan (3), Thompson, Abbott', Wt Qlelland, Maguinness (s), Han^% and Mesdarnes Kennedy and Maw. Games and races were got up for the children and a number of toys were presented by the committee. At the , conclusion of the picnic the prizes were distributed by Mr Thompson, chairman of committee, each child m I the school receiving a prize Two ■ handsome prizes were given for attendance, and Mr Thompson pointed out the necessity of regular attendance, and hoped there would be more competition for these prizes m the eonajrig year. •$ eVeftarjttjse' was also giveft for writing, fhre'e cjieers were 1 then given for Miss SToan and also for the chairman, and a vote of thanks passed to the ladies who had provided the refreshments. The school then broke up for five weeks' holiday.
