The Goods Train.
The following reached us just m time for publication :— Head OflSce, N.Z. Bailways,^., „ Wellington, 7th Ootober, 1905. Sir,— With reference to your representations, m regard to the placing of a carriage on the SbuthbridgeChristchurch goods train, I have the honor to inform you that there is~already a good passenger service on the Southbridgc Branch viz., two passenger trains daily eaqh way m addition to which seats have been
placed m the Guard's van of the goods train by which passengers may travel under the existing regulations. To run a carriage Foa*.the goods train would unnecessarily curtail its usefulness by reducing the load for goods traffic and would necessitate unnecessary special train being run. As the present services amply meet the requirements of the district I regret that after full consideration I cannot sec my way toaccede to your request. I have the honor to be, Sir, Your- obedient servant, : ; J G Ward, Minister for Railways.— R. H. Rhodes, Esq., M.H.R-, Wellington.
